Serena Sutcliffe, MW: 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot. This was the first time in 17 years that the vintage here started after the Médoc. Cigars, woodsmoke and class on the nose plus oriental spices. Great tannic structure with lots of body. Wonderful, sumptuous liquorice and huge appellation character. Beautiful vanillin and Cohiba flavours with stunning length. Really outstanding – fabulous wine.
Jamie Ritchie: 50% of Production. Lovely scent of violets, plums, black cherries and blackcurrants. Pure, fresh, vibrant and full. Juicy fruit with good density and volume. Good dimension, richness, flesh and weight. Multi-layered, with complexity and depth. Combines power, concentration, breed and class, with great harmony and balance – everything is in equilibrium. Superb length, with fresh savory finish of blackcurrant, tobacco and spice. Another excellent Haut Bailly, that brings a smile to your face.
