Serena Sutcliffe, MW: 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot. A marvellous mixture of red and black fruits on the nose, with a predominance of redcurrants. Almost a raspberry taste at this stage with very fine-grained tannins and touch of coffee at the end. A beautiful wine.
Jamie Ritchie: 60% new oak. Classic Pauillac and classic Pichon Lalande. Spicy blackcurrants, cedar, spice and tobacco, but with a suppleness. Fills the mouth with fresh ripe fruit. Seductive, with a wonderful fleshiness. Silky tannins. Very harmonious and well balanced. Velvety smooth in the mouth with good concentration and depth. Finishes with blackberry, graphite and cedar. A very good Pichon Lalande that will be very rewarding from early on and provide enormous pleasure – it will also put on more weight over the next few years.
